The car was completed at Stuttgart, Zuffenhausen in early 1973 and supplied new as a Right Hand Drive model to its UK owner via Porsche concessionaire Henley-on-Thames. It was original presented with Tangerine (018) body colour and black interior, the car has been finished using the original colour scheme.
After 10 years of road use the car was prepared for the race track in Lightweight Specification. Mike Burt successfully raced in the Giroflex championship and the car boasts an excellent race history. The car is featured on page 25 of the ‘R to RSR book’ and was owned for a period by Lord Arundel.
In 2009 the car was prepared for a meticulous ground-up restoration and mechanical rebuild. The car has been completely striped, chemically dipped and E-coated. The extensive rebuild has included; new floors, front and rear quarters, front latch panel, rear cross member, longitudinals doors etc. Mechanically the car has undergone a full engine and gearbox rebuild along with the complete refurbishment of the running gear. The interior has been retrimed with new headlining, carpets, door/map pockets, door panels and retrimed Recaro seats. To date over 1800 hours have been invested into this RS as well as endless lists of OEM parts, we would estimate the restoration cost to be in excess of £130K.
