Export 56 with Magnus Walker at the Porsche Experience Centre Silverstone

Starting early from Export 56 Towers we drove in convoy (for the most part) whilst being filmed by Paul in his Cayman GT4 up ahead. Reaching the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone without drama – the 914 and ST sounding especially handsome – all cars performed faultlessly.

At PEC Mick organised the cars into position. The stunning Export 56 Racing Services team, our 1962 Porsche 356 BT6 Race-Car and our 1959 VW Panel Van lead the line up.

Once all the cars were in position and the engines were cooling off it was plain to all that the results were pretty impressive. An aircooled feast for the eyes.

No Export 56 display is quite the same without the Export 56 Racing Services Team…

And of course, they looked just as good from behind…

And then there were the Magnus Walker designed cars. The gorgeous Silver one – Porsche 911 68R – and the Ghostly black one.

Attention to detail on his cars was seriously impressive. Every angle and detail, from the chromed & drilled door handle to the vintage ‘Porsche Owners Club’ metal emblem, was scrutinised by the engaged audience.

And then to the main event, hosted by Lee Sibley, Editor of Total 911, Magnus proceeded to give us an insight into his life, the cars, his passion and the book “Dirt Don’t Slow You Down” available on Amazon…

The interview was engaging, candid and inspiring. Questions came from the floor and were answered in detail by the gracious and animated Mr Magnus Walker – just as he does in his autobiography.

Strangely the only complaint from Magnus being that he didn’t get any beard-grooming questions – clearly a classy crowd at Silverstone.

And there was still time, for the morning session, after the interview to check out the Export 56 and other visitors cars outside… Porsche enthusiasts really know how to do a car park – our boys the Traffords (junior and senior) and our new friend John “Roosta” Roote getting some serious footage.

To top an excellent afternoon off Magnus Walker continued proving his hard-working and energetic nature with his marathon photo and booking signing. Every single copy of his book bought by his fans on the day was signed with a unique message… (get your copy of Dirt Don’t Slow You Down)

It was all over too soon for the morning possé.

Magnus Walker sped off for a well deserved lunch, showing us the heels of his brand new Doc Martin Lite Newtons as he left.

And it was time for more tyre kicking in the car park until the afternoon show began…
